  This year saw the 112th annual running of our own Clonliffe 2-Mile Road Race, the oldest race in Ireland.   The weather gods again smiled on us (very different from last year!) and the conditions were perfect.   The turnout for the race was huge with 161 finishers.   The nature of this race is an inclusive one with a strong contingent of joggers and future (as well as former!) athletes also taking part.   All in all it was a good bit of craic.   For the more serious competitors the overall Mens' race was won by  two Kenyan visitors Isaac Kimuge in 08:57, with Lezan Kimutai in second with 08:59 and Gary Hynes (Civil Service) third in 09:05, while the Womens race was won by Maria McCambridge (DSD) in 09:39 setting a new Women's course record (taking the bonus prize), with Niamh Burne (Lucan Harriers) second in 10:15 and Fionnula Keane (Loughrea) third in 11:01 - with our own Ladies Captain Mags Greenan fourth in 11:04.  

  Congratulations to the winning teams, Rathfarnham did particularly well in the Mens Senior with 4th, 5th and 6th place - and Clonliffe came third, well done lads.   Our Womens senior team went extremely well to claim first spot including Womens Captain, Mags Greenan.  We also went on to win the Mens Junior team (first three places) and Womens Junior team (First and Second) as well as the Mens Masters O/55 and O/60.

  The organisation was excellent with Noel Guiden, Dave Brennan, Paddy Tuite, Killian Lonergan, Gerry McCabe, Paul Duggan looking after things and guiding the runners over the route.   Everybody was well looked after with T-Shirts and goodies etc. as well as a van provided for the gear at the start and also water at the finish.  The Race and performances were analysed later in Kavanaghs ('The Gravediggers') and the prizes were awarded.
