2003 AAI National
Intermediate and Masters
Cross-Country
Championships
Venue
Phoenix
Park, Dublin
Date
Sunday
9th, February 2003
The weather was
perfect for this year’s
National Cross Country
Championships Intermediate and
Masters competition, held at
the Magazine Fort in the
Phoenix Park. It was a bright
crisp day with a slight breeze
blowing across the park, the
rain from Saturday had
softened up the ground but it
was fine. Those of you who
were at last year’s event in
Donegal will appreciate the
difference (Donegal was
something of a mud-lark!). The
turn-out was huge with over a
hundred runners in each event.
The route used for the Masters
event included a short loop
with a tricky climb around the
trees. The Intermediate route
was 5 laps of the big loop.
The club did very well with
our Mens Intermediate Team
getting third (Colm Rooney was
4th home) as did our Womens
Masters (with Mags Grennan 5th
home), while our Mens Masters
‘A’ team were 4th in their
event. Presentations were held
in the Donore Harriers
Clubhouse with showers and tea
etc. very welcome.
