| PATRICK TAKES GLORIOUS ALL IRELAND TITLE |
Jun 7, 2010 [Noel Guiden] The All Ireland Schools track and field Championships brought the curtin down on the schools year at Tullamore on Saturday. After a long qualifying serious there were a number of Clonliffe athletes in action on what was a glorious Sunmmer`s day. Pride of place goes to Patrick O`Connor in the intermediate boys sprints. Patrick took the 100m title in 11.22 and was second in the 200m in 22.08. Jamie Rossister was also in fine fettle taking silver in the senior boys 2,000m SC in 6.10.06, and a little later put the spikes back on for the 1500, were he placed not surprisingly well out of the medals!. A magnificent silver also from Shauna Furman in the senior girls 100H 15.11. Great efforts also on the day by Fintan Doherty in the inter boys 800m having been ill this week was a very credable 7th in a time of 2.01 and from young Liam Ashton in the Junior boys 1500m who arrived here as Leinster champion and maybe found this one a race too far as he slipped from his recent high standards finishing 12th in 4.45, still Liam in fairness has that Leinster Gold tucked safely away as a reminder of an excellent school`s season. Hopefully all will be freshened up again in a couple of weeks to pull on the Clonliffe singlet for the Dublins and Nationals.

| FLYNNER INTO NCAA DIV. 2 FINAL/ PLACES 11th IN FINAL |
May 28, 2010 [Noel Guiden] - (Updated May 30, 2010) David Flynn was a comfortable qualifier for the NCAA Division 2 3,000m sc final yesterday at the Irwin Belk Track, Charlotte, North Carolina. Running in by far the faster of the 2 semis Flynner "jogged" home in 8th place in 9.05.49 qualifying 12th fastest for tomorrow`s final. News just in Flynner places 11th in final in 9.16.1, which is very disappointing for Dave. After qualifying so comfortably for the final Flynner had a fast one in mind, maybe something around 8.55, and was on schedule from the off , taking up the story he commented: "I was running 8.50 pace right through 2,000 then I hit a barrier hard with my knee and crawled the rest of the way". With the NCAAs being the end of the US season for Dave he returns home in June a more expierenced and wiser athlete. With a change of fortune hopefully he`ll have a good season at home, starting off with The Hireco Clonliffe/IMC T & F Grand Prix Meet on July 1st (a further announcement on that event is expected during the week) and the National 3,000 sc very much in mind.
