May 3, 2005 [Noel Guiden ] On yet another windy night in the Morton Stadium Round 2 of the Grand Prix Series over 1 mile took place on Thursday the 28th of April. For the night that was in it there was a good turnout of some thirty two athletes for the race which was accordingly split into an A and B race.

Feb 1, 2005 [Aidan] Alistair Cragg beat race favourite Kenenisa Bekele (Ethiopia) in a dramatic 3000m metre race at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games on 29th January 2005 held in the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Centre. South-African born Cragg now running for Clonliffe Harriers and who represented Ireland in the Athens Olympics 2004, has been a regular on the American circuit running for the University of Arkansas.

Nov 22, 2004 [Aidan] The Dublin Cross-Country Championships made a welcome return to Santry Demesne on Sunday, November 14th on what was a fine sunny afternoon and perfect conditions for racing. Clonliffe's Senior and Junior teams did us proud with individual medals as well as Senior Mens Team gold, Junior Mens Team Bronze and Junior Womens Team Bronze.

Oct 28, 2004 [Aidan] Congratulations to the Clonliffe lads and ladies who took part in the Dublin City Marathon. The marathon incorporated the National Marathon and achieving some excellent times, our ladies went on to win the team event.

Oct 12, 2004 [Aidan] On what was a lovely day for the competition in the Phoenix Park, Clonliffe's Novice Men took 3 of the top 10 places and overall 1st with a score of 51. Michael MacDiarmada had a fantastic race to come in 3rd place, Ronan Hartnett came in 6th, Sean McDonnel had a storming last lap to come from 15th to 8th and further back Murray Ahern completed the scoring with 34th. His brother Dylan came 39th, Colin Hickey was 48th, Almeida De Capela was 49th and Tony Kernan was 59th, completing the team. It's a fantastic result for the lads and particularly for Sean McDonnell who was out for most of the last year with injury. Our Ladies came team 5th, with Aisling Coppinger an excellent individual 8th, Bronagh O'Brien 19th, Catriona Boyle was 21st and Helen Walsh was 26th.

Oct 12, 2004 [Noel Guiden] Round 12 of the Grand Prix series incorporated in the Walker Cup took place on the 7th of October 2004 under lights at the Morton Stadium. There was a very good turnout for the four-mile track race which in addition to Grand Prix athletes included a number of other club members running in the Walker Cup boosting the field to over thirty starters.

Stephen Young continues with his magnificent defence of the yellow jersey. In fairness he really is putting up a superb defence. He has now held the yellow jersey for a number of races and has a slender 1.5 point lead over Pat Healy heading into round twelve. See leader-board for current position.

As the wind and rain swept across the track at the Morton Stadium on Thursday the 16th of September, the hardy Grand Prix athletes huddled together in the club-house waiting for some divine intervention.

There was a good turnout of athletes despite the race falling bang in the middle of the holiday season as some twenty-three toed the line for the start.

Aug 25, 2004 [Aidan] Well done to Clonliffe's Alistair Cragg on his excellent Olympic 5000m debut. He qualified in 7th place for the final in 13:23.01, with the winner Bekele getting 13:21.18. Mark Carroll was unfortunate not to go through despite his efforts to push the early pace where he led for several laps.
