| Start of race |
|
The Dublin Port Tunnel Run starts at 11.00 a.m. (wheelchair
athletes start at 10:45) on Sunday the 10th of December
2006.
RECOMMENDED ARRIVAL TIME: Between 09:00 - 09:30
a.m. (no access to race area after 10:15).
The race starts and ends at the Dublin Port end of
the tunnel and access will be via the East Wall Road/
Tolka Quay Road (near The Point Depot). It is advisable
to be familiar with the race location (see map at bottom)
and to follow the signage and steward instructions on
race day.
Please ensure that you take good care of your number
as entry to the start area at East Wall will be strictly
on the basis of production of your event number only.
Athletes should attach their number to the front of
their singlets/ tops on race day.
PLEASE NOTE: Regretably, it is not possible
to accomodate spectators and they will not be permitted
to enter the Port Tunnel/ Race area. The race itself
is mostly underground and there is not enough space
in the Start/ Finish area - any inconvenience is regretted.
FACILITIES: 'Portaloos' (toilets) will be located at the
entry/ exit areas.
BAGGAGE: There will be very limited baggage
facilities and runnners are encouraged to arrive ready
to run and to carry any valuables on their person. Bags
are left at owners risk - it might be advisable to have
a 'throwaway' T-shirt or protective garment instead.
FIRST AID: There will be First Aid stations
at the entry and exit points.

| The Course |
|
The start will be situated approximately 700 metres
from the entry to the Dublin Port Tunnel itself (in
East Wall). The route will involve starting at the Toll
Plaza area, running the 4.5 km length of one tunnel,
popping out at Santry for about 50 metres taking a right
turn before returning through the other tunnel to the
finish back at the port, some 200 metres from the tunnel
exit. Each kilometre will be marked.
Conditions for running are ideal as it is practically
all held underground, however there is a distinct climb
for 3km of the outbound journey and 2+ km of the return
journey. Participants should ensure they can finish
the distance before taking part.
